How to make great youtube ads

3/1/2018

The trick in making a GREAT YouTube ad is not more media buys, target audiences or professional production house. (although they do help in some way)

The trick is to make content NOT ads!

By this I mean create compelling content, something that viewers enjoy watching and is entertaining in some form, whether using humour or shock element.

Basically the video should be a story that happens to incorporate your product/service as support RATHER than a video about your product/service.

Below are two companies that made great contents that happen to be ads.
  1. The first ad by SHISEIDO was made in-house by the Japanese team. The 'ad' message here is that our products are so great that we can even make guys look like pretty girls.
  2. The second ad is a funny entertaining video that happens to use a tablet (in this case from Lenovo) for its storyline.

Facebook videos autoplay with sound!

5/2/2017

Facebook videos will now play with sound by default!

Don't worry if you're trying to watch something secretly and suddenyly sound will come on :P we've all been there!

This change will only occur if your phone is on sound. How it works is quite seamless, all videos in your News Feed section will auto fade sound as you scroll to it and then fades out as you past.

If you're still unhappy with this new feature then you can always turn it off!

YOU CAN TURN OFF THE AUTOPLAY SOUND FEATURE IN SETTINGS.

Facebook assured users that if listening to music, then sound from its videos will not interrupt them.

Facebook announced today the new feature of 360 photos.

How it works is simple.
Take a panorama with your phone or capture a 360-degree photo using a 360 photo app or 360 camera, and then post it on Facebook as you would a normal photo.

From there, they will convert it to an immersive 360 photo that people can explore.

Basic SEO Techniques

Basic SEO Checklist

Install Google Analytics
Analytics help you gain an insight into your visitor demographics and understand your marketing better.

Add Website to Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools
These tools analyze many factors that affect your search traffic. It’s a must have.

Check Site Page Speed at Google Page Speed Insights
A score of around 85/100 is considered good for both mobile and desktop. Remember, if your site takes more than 2 to 4 seconds to load, your visitor will move on.

Ensure Your CMS is Equipped
Make sure your Content Management System is equipped with an SEO plugin that allows you to write the title, description, image tags, h-tags (headers), and page tags. It should also allow you to format your article (bold, italics, spell-check). I suggest Yoast SEO for WordPress.

Make Your Site Responsive
It should deliver a great user experience across all devices.

Check Broken Links
Use Xenu’s Link Sleuth, which is a free and helpful tool.

Validate Your HTML and CSS
Validate your HTML and CSS coding at W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) using HTML validator, CSS validator, and mobile code validator.

Create and Upload a Sitemap.xml
Position pages with maximum potential at the top. Here’s a dynamic sitemap.xml generator (free for up to 500 pages).
Submit the sitemap link (yoursite.com/sitemap.xml) to Google and Bing using appropriate sections located in the Google Search Console/Bing Webmaster Tools.

Create and Upload a Robots.txt File
The Robots file instructs search engines about pages to crawl, and pages to leave alone (admin area, restricted areas, etc.).

YouTube's adding a new option to help advertisers get their message to consumers — but in a much shorter amount of time than normal. Today the company announced that beginning next month, it'll offer six-second "Bumper" ads that are designed to be a better companion to the shorter video clips that millions of YouTube users are watching on smartphones. Bumper ads are ideal for driving incremental reach and frequency, especially on mobile, where “snackable videos” perform well.

Sample Bumper Ads below:

Facebook Officially Launches Canvas Ads That Load Full-Screen Rich Media Pages In-App

Instant Articles, meet Instant Ads. Facebook wants to give advertisers an immersive way to reach people without making them leave the social network. So today it officially launched its ad Canvas for all advertisers. When users click a Facebook News Feed ad connected to Canvas, it opens a full-screen, rich media page inside of Facebook rather than forcing users to wait for a mobile website to load.

Canvas removes constraints that low-power mobile sites put on content. Facebook Canvas allows interactive elements like animations, carousels, product catalogs, tilt-to-view images, and videos. Canvases appear linked to from News Feed ads on iOS and Android, and Facebook is evaluating how to expand this to other versions and apps such as Instagram.

Facebook Instant Articles

How Facebook Instant Articles Work

If you’ve ever clicked on an article link in the Facebook app, you know that no matter how well the website is optimized for mobile, you always have to wait for the site to load before you can get to the content.

Facebook Instant Articles solves this by allowing publishers to optimize their content so readers can access it instantly. The following video shows the difference between two Huffington Post articles. The first goes to the Huffington Post website, and the second goes to content optimized for Facebook Instant Articles.
